Andrew Cuomo is Right: Trump is Retaliating Against New York City

Captain Ahab Has to Hunt His Whale

I am always dumfounded when others refute the vengeful and ruthless nature of Donald J. Trump. Time and time again, in unabashed shamelessness he has demonstrated just how malicious he can be. If you ask psychologists and mental health professionals they will tell you Trump is a very vindictive individual. They will professionally diagnosis him as a sociopath. They will also tell you he is a pathological liar and a narcissist. They will tell you he will always put himself first in life, just like how he intentionally downplayed the coronavirus because he feared it would hinder his chance of being reelected. He is only interested in protecting himself and not the American people.

When Andrew Cuomo stated in his press conference on September 7 that Trump was trying to destroy New York City, I had already reached that conclusion several weeks ago. I actually posted an article about it the day before the briefing, unaware of any comments Cuomo made in the previous week or would be making. I knew when Trump first singled out NYC as a so-called crime hotspot, that Trump was exacting his revenge on Andrew Cuomo, Bill de Blasio, and New York City. Captain Ahab has to hunt his whale.

Why Cuomo and de Blasio? Because Cuomo and de Blasio called him out on his deadly coronavirus response, which basically has resulted in the death of nearly 200,000 people, Why NYC? Because New York City knows full well who Donald Trump is, and by that I mean they know he is a fraud and is morally bankrupt. Trump’s song and dance routines and crass euphemisms dissipated in NYC throughout time. That show closed its curtains a long time ago, and with NYC’s dismal vote count in the last presidential election, he has been stewing ever since. Donald Trump does not let go grudges - ever.

America never had a chance with this lying, selfish president who placed the value of his one position over the lives of 340 million Americans. Donald Trump is to blame for not only downplaying the virus, but he refused to act on his powers as president to protect the American people. Trump called himself a War Time president but yet refused to carry out the Defense Production Act, which would have provided states badly needed PPE equipment.

New York and other blue states targeted by the Trump Administration (“red” states who implemented the same policies got a free pass) followed the CDC guidelines. With the CDC’s defective tests and lack of assistance from the Trump Administration, our states basically had to fend for themselves. The failure on Trump’s part is the motivation behind his “Law and Order” mantra to deflect attention away from his poor handling of the coronavirus. Donald J. Trump has blood on his hands and has cost the lives of tens upon thousands of Americans.

Hearing Trump on the Bob Woodward’s tapes was devastating and made me sick to my stomach.  By the way, the definition of “downplaying “is to “make (something) appear less important than it really is.” Trump didn’t just downplay the virus: he called the coronavirus a hoax. He said it did not exist. That is what we call “Lying.” Trump lied about the coronavirus to 340,000 million Americans; which was instrumental behind so many deaths by his false portrayal of the coronavirus. So it begs the question - why would anyone discount the possibility of someone who is that malicious going after New York City and its’ leaders?

Once Cuomo and de Blasio criticized Trump, I knew it was matter of time, which actually ended up more like seconds. Trump has decided to go in for the kill. So it behooves me when I see stories implying Cuomo has “went off the rails,” just because he stated this is personal with Trump. I can promise you this is very personal with Donald Trump. You will not see Trump go after the other three conveniently blue states (Portland, Seattle and Washington, D.C.) to the extent he is pursuing New York. Everything about Donald Trump is an abomination and unconventional - by now, no one should be surprised by how selfish, spiteful, and vindictive he is.

I have to question where have people been if they are unable to see Trump is just that vengeful. Either they don’t want to see it, or they are Trump supporters who are entertained by his cruelty and viciousness. Trump does not care how many people he will hurt to accomplish his revenge; such matters are immaterial to him. Captain Ahab will destroy himself in the process if that is what it takes. That is Donald Trump 101. It is signature Trump to strike back at anyone who criticizes him. Consider the long list of casualties that were once in the Trump Administration, now lying by the road side as Trump Kill.

The Republican Party and Fox News (are obsessed) has intentionally targeted Andrew Cuomo citing his nursing home policies - but that’s not what really bothering them. The true motive by their attacks and purpose are twofold: First, attacking Cuomo deflects the blame off of Donald Trump, which is unequivocally where it belongs. Second, they fear Cuomo may run for president in the future, so they are already posturing themselves to malign his character and his performance as New York’s governor. I tell you for a party that tries to hide behind the name of God; they are some of the most ruthless, malicious characters I have ever witnessed in my life. They are the antithesis to the spirit of Jesus Christ.

If it was any other president other than Trump than I might say Cuomo’s statements might had been overstretching - but not with Donald Trump. Knowing Trump’s psychological profile, this level of vindictiveness should be expected. Donald Trump exudes how an autocratic, vindictive leader looks like and behaves. What is disconcerting to me is the alarming rate Trump is settling into a dictatorial role; you can thank Bill Barr, Mitch McConnell, and the Republican Senate for their help in expediting his autocratic role.

Republican officials in New York seem to be all in for Trump defunding New York City. They obviously are not too concerned about their constituents or their quality of life. Just to name a few - Jerry Kassar, Joe Borelli, and potentially Nicole Malliotakis, who is running for Congress. Leave it to God-fearing, hate filled Republicans to go in for the kill when a city is down. They are all ingratiated Trumpeteers who are willing and able to throw their own constituents under the bus. Trump’s attempts to defund New York City will ultimately impact both Republicans and Democrat alike. Take note Republican voters in NYC - your Republican elected officials are choosing political brownie points over your quality of life in the mist of this deadly pandemic.

I have noticed if you want to incite the ire of the Republican Party, the best way is to assert Black Lives Matter, and speak of systemic racism. Nothing gets to them any madder than that. Any program or attempts to address racism is sure to get them boiling as it grates against their latent contempt for minorities and the disadvantage. Anything that attempts to address racism or helping the poor is considered left-wing, and frivolous.

Malliotakis made the following statement; “President Trump is sending a clear message to Bill de Blasio and New York City’s left-wing elected officials; you can’t break federal laws with radical far left policies and squander billions in tax dollars on pet projects like Thrive NYC, then defund the NYPD with expectations that the federal government will bail you out.”  Can somebody hand me a cloth because the vicious spittle out of this one’s mouth landed on my face in an entirely different state. Bill de Blassio appears to have reallocated money to different departments, but it does not appear he defunded the NYPD.  He definitely did not implement anything  like how Trump wants to defund an entire city. Andrew Cuomo and Joe Biden did not call for defunding the police.

Joe Borelli, who represents Staten Island in the New York City Council, said the following about Donald Trump’s threat to defund New York., “How is this any different for New Yorkers from when Andrew Cuomo threatened to pull funding unless cities enacted his police reforms?”  Well, it is actually different in several ways. Cuomo’s executive order called for police departments to come with a plan on how to improve race relations in their departments. That is a far cry from defunding an entire city, and it is ludicrious to even present the two as comprable.

Is it asking too much to come with a plan or to make an effort to foster better race relations in a police department? Borelli and his fellow Republicans seem to think so. Cuomo allotted police departments nine months to submit a plan to address these issues; he did not ask for the revamping of an entire department. Nor did he implement fines for every black person shot by the police – that would bankrupt some departments entirely.

Second, Trump’s defunding is based on what could be considered third-party results - the public. Crime is a behavior that cannot be controlled by any one individual or entity. For example, can we blame Bill de Blassio or Andrew Cuomo for Trump’s crime of raping of E. Jean Carroll (well, I’ll throw in “alleged rape”)? How could they have stopped the rape? Once the rape occurred, should they be penalized or NYC for Trump raping her? By Donald Trump defunding New York City, it will only make crime rates raise tremendously. Let me clear, Trump could care less about crime, human life, or anything other than himself. His “law and order” mantra sole purpose is to divert attention away from his botched, deadly response to the coronavirus.

Sociologist and urban planners have established having programs in communities like social services, providing healthcare, having programs for teens, etc. help curtail crime rates. A depressed economy will always lead to higher crime rates. We are talking about people lives here – in the midst of a deadly pandemic. To defund any city at this time is a cruel and inhumane thing to do. Taking money away from agencies and programs to help the citizens in New York at a time like this is abhorrent – it is reprehensible. But like Trump, these Republican representatives know full well they resent the people and agencies that rely on this money.

Third, withholding funds for a given police department, which it is should never even get to this point, pales in comparison to defunding an entire city. It would be remiss and inexcusable for a department to be that trifling to not even bother to submit a plan. Trump is vehement on destroying even more lives; particularly in the city he once lived that did not vote for him. Not just any city - we are talking about NYC with a population of over 8,300,000 the largest city in the entire United States.

Captain Ahab must hunt his whale, and he will stop at nothing until he avenges himself on New York City and his leaders. Common sense dictates defunding any city will only result in higher crime rates, but then again we are talking about Donald Trump. This is personal with Donald Trump – it is about his ego and his need to assuage it. He is just that resentful and vindictive of a person. He is methodical in plotting his revenge, and this is exactly what is at play here. His whole vendetta only exemplifies how dangerous it is to have someone like him as president.

Crime is always important, but it is not the public's concern at this point and time. What is on people's minds is addressing the coronavirus, and its' devastating impact on the economic health of their state. Donald Trump does not care how many people he takes down or the lives he will destroy. If you have a president who pitted his own self-serving interest over 340 million Americans by withholding the truth about Covid-19, than he sure as heck don’t care about the 8+ million Americans living in NYC.  We need a sane, rational person in the Oval Office; if Trump is elected again it will be catastrophic for our entire country.
