"After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence." Twitter
Twitter is not beholding to anyone; not Donald Trump, you, or myself. Unlike the erroneous claim by Republican Senator Marc Rubio that Twitter should had not terminated Donald Trump’s account, Twitter has every right to do so. Trump clearly violated their terms of service and I applaud them for taking a stand against hate and incitement.
Twitter is a company who makes money for profit - it is not a government institution. It’s not a public domain “free for all.” It is not for everyone to do as he or she pleases at the expense of public safety. Donald Trump nor his offspring have in roads to Twitter – they are not exempt from inciting riots at the expense of our democracy. Twitter has every legal right to expect their users abide by their terms, and if not, suspend their accounts accordingly.
There is no violation of free speech involved in this instance whatsoever. Donald Trump does and most assuredly continues his hate rhetoric wherever and whenever possible. Most businesses and organizations require those who patronize their business abide by the rules specified when either signing up or partaking in their services.
For example, most restaurants post shirt and shoes required signs when entering their premises. Are we to surmise a man can enter only with his underwear on because the sign did not specify pants or shorts? No, he has no right to do so.
Instead of Rubio being concerned about the riot incited by Donald Trump, he is focused on Trump’s twitter account being suspended. I’ve said this all along; Trump says what racist Republicans fear to say themselves. Trump’s Twitter account should has been suspended a long time ago, as well as his Facebook account. Today, Facebook announced that any post regarding the “Stop the Steal” lie propagated by Trump will be moved from their site.
You can thank the Republican Party partly for Trump erroneous thinking – they had the biggest hand in supporting this evil monster for the past four years. Even now after the death of 5 individuals they do not want to implement the 25th Amendment against this unhinged, psychotic president. If something happens and others are hurt or killed from now until the inauguration as a result of Trump – just remember the Republican Party refused to take any steps to protect Americans.
The worst president in American history believes he is beyond reproach and the law – but he is not. Corporations are not liable to provide you services when you violate their policies or terms of usage. Trump does not have an unalienable right to Twitter or any other social media platform. None of us do. These are corporations and they have the right to establish what they deem as appropriate for the goods and services they offer.
